Baby Boomers are rushing back to school. Not to relive the sit-ins and Nietzsche essays of their past, but to retire in vibrant, active, increasingly convenient college towns.

Not only do college towns promise a stimulating intellectual environment, but many academic institutions are now actively encouraging retiring Boomers to rejoin the community. As many as 50 colleges and universities have built on-campus housing specifically designed for retirees, and many offer perks such as the opportunity to take classes, attend cultural events and use the library for little or no charge.
